The demand for competent and educated leaders in the maritime industry, both onboard ships at sea, and in organisations onshore, is higher than ever. In this master’s programme, students will prepare to take up vital roles as future leaders in the shipping industry — guiding the industry into a new era, and tackling the dual challenges of complex logistics issues and the strictest demands on quality.
The programme will give you theoretical and practical knowledge in subjects including project management, quality, risk and safety management, delivered at Chalmers’ extremely high standards. The programme also teaches skills within the areas of leadership and communication, marine environmental protection and energy management. An emphasis on business acumen is also featured, with courses including business development and business strategy management.
The ideal candidate for the programme is a maritime professional, preferably with some years’ experience in the shipping industry, for example with a BSc degree in marine or nautical engineering, shipping and logistics or an equivalent education. A genuine passion for quality and sustainability is a must.
After graduation, you will be well-placed to take up higher management positions at leading companies within the fields of ship management and strategic management. You will also have the possibility to take part in research education and projects during the studies, graduating with sufficient knowledge and formal qualification to apply for further research studies in these areas.
